An Israeli court has convicted a Jewish woman of putting up posters insulting the Prophet Mohammad -- an action which provoked riots in Hebron and outrage across the Muslim world.
The posters depicted a pig, which is considered unclean in Islam.
The woman, a young Russian immigrant Tatiana Suszkinwas found guilty of committing a racist act and harming religious sensitivities.
The BBC Jerusalem correspondent says the woman was tearful but not contrite. She faces a maximum sentence of twenty-six years.
The court verdict came as Muslim clerics declared the beginning of the holy month of fasting, Ramadan.
