The International Monetary Fund has officially approved the immediate disbursement of a two billion dollar emergency loan to South Korea.
The payment was recommended last week by the IMF Managing Director, Michael Camdessus, under an accelerated aid schedule.
The money is part of a sixty billion dollar international rescue package for the ailing South Korean economy.
International investment institutions and commercial banks are also supporting efforts to alleviate South Korea's short-term debt problems.
