Chris Sutton equalised to claim a point for Blackburn in a match in which they did more than enough to win.

Jimmy Armfield reports from Ewood Park (Dur: 0-55")
Palace were clinging on to a 2-1 lead at Ewood Park after Tim Flowers had gifted them their second goal just after half-time with a terrible blunder.

Palace had pulled everyone back to try and hang on before Sutton netted from close range 13 minutes from time.

Bruce Dyer gave the visitors the lead against the run of play with a header after 10 minutes before Kevin Gallacher levelled after 25 minutes.

The draw ended Rovers' five-match winning streak at home, while for Palace it was another point to add to their impressive haul from their away matches.

Palace were without the injured Neil Shipperley, Attilio Lombardo and Michele Padovano and the suspended Jamie Fullarton and Marc Edworthy, but they opened the scoring from their first attack.

Warhurst, who won a league championship medal with Blackburn three seasons ago, netted his third goal of the season to restore Palace's lead two minutes into the second half thanks to Flowers' mistake.

The Blackburn equaliser came on 77 minutes. Duff's initial shot was saved by Miller and Sutton knocked home the rebound for his 13th goal of the season.

The draw means Blackburn stay in second place in the Premiership five points behind the leaders Manchester United who lost at Coventry.
