Dons gift West Ham win

Wimbledon scored an own goal and had a player sent off to provide West Ham United with their first away win since the opening day of the season.

The BBC's John Roeder reports from Selhurst Park (Dur: 52")
Centre-back Ben Thatcher received his marching orders for elbowing West Ham's Paul Kitson while the two players chased a long ball.

Thatcher claimed Kitson dived but referee Paul Durkin produced a red card.

On the half-hour, full-back Alan Kimble put West Ham in front with scored an amazing own goal.

West Ham midfielder Frank Lampard raced into the area and tried to find striker John Hartson.

Goalkeeper stranded

His pass went well astray and Kimble was left on his own with the simplest of jobs in clearing the ball.

Instead he fired a powerful shot straight past his own stunned goalkeeper Neil Sullivan.

Kitson scored the winner with his third goal in four games, again thanks to Wimbledon's generosity.

Full-back Kenny Cunningham chased a seemingly innocuous long ball back towards his own goal, and with plenty of time, tried to head the ball back to Sullivan.

But the header fell short and Kitson pounced to calmly round the Scottish international and fire home into the empty goal.

Wimbledon's consolation was Staale Solbakken's first goal for the club in the dying seconds.
