Woman dies after ostrich attack

A woman in South Africa has died in hospital after she was attacked two weeks ago by an ostrich.

Police said the sixty-three-year old woman, Anna Hendricks, and her husband, were attacked by a male ostrich while they were crossing a field on an ostrich farm near Cape Town.

Both were admitted to hospital, but the husband was later discharged.

Male ostriches are territorial and attack intruders by kicking them, and raking them with their long claws.
