Jordan seeks closer ties with Saudi Arabia

The Jordanian foreign minister, Fayez al-Tarawnah, has held a meeting with King Fahd of Saudi Arabia.

Earlier he had discussions with his Saudi counterpart Prince Saud al-Faisal on ways to foster closer bilateral ties.

Relations between the two countries have been strained since the Gulf war when SaudiArabia accused Jordan of sympathising with Iraq after it invaded Kuwait.

But a meeting between King Hussein and King Fahd in Saudi last year signalled a thaw.
