Saturday, December 27, 1997 Published at 18:28 GMT World: S/W Asia Kazakh opposition leader freed from prison
Reports from Kazakhstan say an opposition leader, Galym Abilsiitov, has been released from prison on health grounds by a court in the city of Almaty.
Mr Abilsiitov -- who's a co-chairman of the Azamat movement -- was sentenced last week to fifteen days in prison after being found guilty of helping to organise an anti-goverment rally.
Opposition leaders protested against his imprisonment and threatened a hunger strike.
