Rangers go into the Christmas programme in a familiar position with the chasing pack hoping they will slip up against Dundee United.
Fourth-placed United is the only Scottish team this season to have beaten Rangers and they've done it twice - once in the league and once in the Coca Cola Cup.
Celtic and Hearts could both go top if they win away games against St Johnstone and Dunfermline respectively and Rangers drop points.
Rangers goalkeeper Andy Goram is planning to make up for a dreadful blunder in the league defeat when the Scottish international's error handed United victory.
Hearts are anxious to return to winning ways against Dunfermline, at East End
Park, after back to back defeats at the hands of title rivals Rangers and Celtic.
They are two points adrift after leading the table for most of the season and need a victory to keep up the heat on the two Glasgow clubs.
Dunfermline has already beaten them twice this season but midfielder Stefano Salvotori said: "There's a lot of determination among the players to stay in our position among the leaders."
