Kenyan election campaign enters last day

A final day of campaigning has been taking place in Kenya ahead of Monday's presidential and parliamentary elections.

The incumbent head of state, Daniel arap Moi, addressed supporters at Naivasha in his home province, Rift Valley.

His main rival among the other fourteen candidates, Mwai Kibaki, told a rally in the capital that now was the time to end President Moi's nineteen years in power.

The BBC Nairobi correspondent says President Moi's campaign has highlighted the disunity of the opposition.

Although the level of violence throughout the campaign has been relatively low, three people were killed in western Kenya on Sunday in ethnic violence which some local residents said was connected with the election.

Some monitoring groups have expressed concern at reports of candidates bribing voters.
