See More Business stretches the lead from Challenger Du Luc in the race to the line

The 10-1 shot, See More Business, outshone his more fancied rivals to win the King George VI Handicap at Kempton Park.

The final stages of the race (2'17")
The triumph gave trainer, Paul Nicholls, and jockey, Andrew Thornton, their biggest success.

Race pundits had dubbed the race 'The Battle of the Greys', as Sandy Bay and One Man were expected to be the main contenders.

In the early stages it had seemed the experts would be proved correct with the two greys, Barton Bank and See More Business, leading the field.

But One Man hit the fifth fence last and Richard Dunwoody needed all his skill to bring Gordon Richards' grey back into contention.

As the field swung for home, Thornton sent See More Business to the front as the pressure began to tell on Sandy Bay.

One Man chased Nicholls's seven-year-old into the third last with Challenger du Luc making smooth headway into third ahead of the staying-on Rough Quest.

With one left to jump, One Man slowed dramatically, leaving Martin Pipe's Challenger Du Luc the only danger to See More Business.

As the two raced for the line, See More Business had the greater strength to take the race.

The Result:

1 See More Business (A Thornton) 10-1

2 Challenger du Luc (A P McCoy) 16-1

3 Rough Quest (M A Fitzgerald) 11-2

8 ran

Also: 9-4 Jt Fav One Man, Suny Bay 4th

Non Runner: 9
