More defections from Indian Congress party
The Congress Party of India has suffered another setback in the run-up to the general election next year. Four more Congress politicians, including a former cabinet minister, have resigned from the party, citing dissatisfaction with the party leader, Sitaram Kesri, who they say has presided over the liquidation of the party. They suggested the leader of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, Atal Behari Vajpayee, would make a good prime minister. They didn't say whether they intended to join the BJP, as several of their former colleagues have done in recent weeks. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
