Cricket abandoned over "dangerous" pitch
CRICKET: The second one-day international between India and Sri Lanka has been abandoned after only eighteen balls were bowled, because the pitch was ruled too dangerous for play. Sri Lanka -- who've already lost the first match -- were seventeen for one wicket in the game at Indore when Roshan Mahanama was injured on the hand; a forty-minute discussion followed between the two captains, the umpires and the match referee over the cracks appearing in the playing surface, before the teams were led off. The final match of the series takes place in Goa on Sunday. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
