Korean oil tanker explodes
A South Korean oil carrier exploded on Friday off the south eastern port of Ulsan, injuring four of the seven crew, the Ulsan maritime police said.
The 287-ton Woojin oil carrier exploded at about 9:55 a.m. (0055 GMT) while the tanker was being filled. The boat was owned by the unlisted Woolim Development Co Ltd. "It is not clear what has caused the explosion," a police official said. "Four crew were injured and there was no oil spill as a result of the accident." According to South Korea's Yonhap Television News the boat was thought to contain about 30 tons of oil. |
