Kinshasa urges exiles to return

The leader of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Laurent Kabila, has appealed for exiled politicians from the Mobutu era to return home and invest money they may have embezzled in reconstruction efforts.

President Kabila told a news conference in Kinshasa that they would not be pursued for their political connections.

He also urged the Mobutu family to return the late leader's remains for burial at his birthplace in northern Equateur province.

The late president died in exile in Morocco only months after being ousted.
