Malawi floods kill at least two and destroy 2000 homes

Heavy rains in Malawi have killed at least four people and left around two-thousand homeless.

The worst hit areas are said to be central and northern Malawi, where aid workers have been trying to evacuate hundreds of people trapped by torrential rain.

In some cases the the army had to be called in to airlift trapped people.

In Karonga, a town on the border with Tanzania, some people were reported missing.

The government has called on residents of flood-prone regions to move to safer areas.

The Malawi Red Cross has appealed for help from international donors.
