Tajiks agree government posts
The government of Tajikistan and the Islamic-led opposition have agreed on the allocation of government ministries to opposition representatives. The agreement came after a meeting between President Rahmonov and the opposition leader, Said Abdullo Nuri. The opposition will have the posts of two deputy prime ministers, as well as the ministries of defence, economics and several others. A BBC correspondent says the deal is a major step towards restoring a lasting peace in the republic. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
