Chinese minister in Egypt

The Chinese Foreign Minister, Qian Qichen, is in Egypt on the latest stage of his Middle East tour.

The Egyptian news agency MENA said Mr Qichen would meet President Mubarak to discuss bilateral ties, regional developments and the Middle East peace process.

Mr Qichen has already been to Syria, Lebanon, Israel and visited the Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat.

During his visit to Israel, he pledged that China would actively work to resuscitate the peace process.
