"No sabotage" of Arsenal match

Police in London say they've found no evidence so far that floodlights were deliberately sabotaged to force the abandonment of a Premier League football match earlier this week.

A spokesman for the Premier League also cast doubt on the reports, saying all the evidence pointed to technical failure.

A British newspaper said a betting syndicate based in the Far East deliberately got the match -- between Wimbledon and Arsenal -- stopped to avoid the possibility of Arsenal winning.

This, said the paper, would have cost the syndicate a huge sum of money.

The score was nil-nil when the match was blacked out, just after half-time.
