Parliament in Haiti rejects new prime minister

In the continuing political crisis in Haiti, members of parliament have rejected the latest nominee for the post of Prime Minister, Herve Denis.

Mr Denis -- an economics expert backed by President Rene Preval -- failed by three votes to secure the support he needed.

The president is now expected to nominate another candidate.

Haiti has been without a prime minister since June, when Rosny Smarth resigned after claiming there had been fraud during elections in April.

Another of President Preval's candidates, Ericq Pierre, was rejected by the parliament in August.
