Polish abortion law liberlaisation rejected

A liberalisation of abortion law in Poland has been overturned under a Constitutional Court ruling which takes effect tomorrow later today, Wednesday.

In May, the court declared unconstitutional a 1996 amendment allowing abortion up to the twelfth week of pregnancy if women faced financial or emotional difficulties.

The court said this violated the rights of unborn Polish children.

Last week parliament supported the ruling which has now been officially published.
