Kosovo Albanians to hold elections

Reports from the troubled Serbian province of Kosovo say that ethnic Albanians will hold what they call their own parliamentary and presidential elections in March.

The decision, which was taken by the Coordinative Council of the Albanian Political Parties at a closed meeting in the regional capital, Pristina, is expected to be announced tomorrow Wednesday.

The elections were due to be held in 1996, but were postponed by the man the Albanians elected as the president of Kosovo in 1992, Ibrahim Rugova.

The elections are considered illegal by the Serbian authorities.
