Kohl speaks to troops in Bosnia

The German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, who is on a visit to Bosnia-Hercegovina, has said German troops will remain with the NATO-led peace-keeping force there for as long as they are needed.

He told troops that the deployment of the German army in Bosnia was an act of international solidarity.

Mr Kohl also met the three members of the Bosnian collective presidency and urged them to work together to cement peace.

His one-day visit came a day after President Clinton went to Bosnia to discuss the peace process.
