Tajik opposition leader criticises slow pace of peace
A Tajik opposition leader, Haji Akbar Turajonzoda, has expressed concern about the slow pace at which the political side of the recent peace accord with the government is being implemented. In an interview with the Russian news agency Itar-TASS, he said the military side of the accord was making considerable progress. But there'd been no positive moves in carrying out the parts of the accord covering reform of central and local government. And he said he would not return from his exile in Iran until the issue of his appointment in a reformed government had been decided. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
