Fujimori says 'no differences' with Peruvian military
The President of Peru, Alberto Fujimori -- speaking after several days of tension involving commanders of the armed forces -- has said he's in full control. Mr Fujimori said there were no differences between the government andmilitary chiefs, and he did not plan any changes to the high command. At the weekend, Mr Fujimori ordered regional military leaders back to their bases from Lima, where they'd been meeting the head of the armed forces, General Nicolas Hermoza. Mr Fujimori and General Hermoza are in dispute over who should receive the credit for the operation to release hostages from the Japanese ambassador's residence last April.
