Cambodian government troop reinforcements

Cambodian government troops are reported to have reinforced their positions around a rebel stronghold near the border with Thailand during a lull in fighting.

Thai military officials said seven truckloads of soldiers and weapons were moved into the area around O'Smach, a stronghold of fighters loyal to the former Cambodian co-prime minister, Prince Norodom Ranariddh.

The government has rejected a call from a leading opposition figure, Sam Rainsy, for a ceasefire to be arranged and monitored by the United Nations.
