Israelis charged over bridge collapse

Five Israelis have been charged with negligence in the construction of a bridge which collapsed at a sports event five months ago, killing four Australian athletes.

The athletes were taking part in an international Jewish event near Tel Aviv and had been walking across the bridge when it collapsed, plunging them into a river below.

The negligence charges against the bridge-builders carry prison sentences of up to three years.
