New football champions in Latin America
The football championships in several Latin American countries have drawn to a close. In Argentina, River Plate won its third consecutive title, ending with a one point lead. Vasco da Gama became the Brazilian champions despite only drawing their final game. In Colombia, America of Cali scooped the title with a 2-0 win over Atletico Bucaramanga. The Chilean championship, which was twice halted by a players strike, was won by Colo Colo. Olimpia of Paraguay won their championship and Bolivar clinched the Bolivian title.
