Toyota suspends car production in the Philippines
The Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota, has announced that its two plants in the Philippines will remain closed for a full month because of falling demand. A company spokesman in Tokyo said the closure was aimed at reducing the number of unsold cars at a time when the market had been hit by the financial turmoil in the region. Production at the two plants is expected to resume on January the eighteenth. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
