There's been a lull in fighting in Cambodia
Reports from Cambodia say there's been a lull in fighting after more than a week of hostilities between government forces and rebel troops near the border with Thailand. The reports say there's been little artillery or morter fire around the rebel stronghold of O'Smach for the first time since government forces resumed their offensive. O'Smach is the last stronghold of fighters loyal to the former co-prime minister, Prince Norodom Ranariddh. The leading opposition figure, Sam Rainsy, says he has persuaded both sides to agree in principle to a ceasefire. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
