England beat Sri Lanka in womens' cricket world cup quarter final

CRICKET: In the quarter-final of the Women's World Cup in India, England have beaten Sri Lanka to take a place in the second semi-final.

England won by nine wickets.

Sri Lanka, one of three teams making their debuts in the World Cup, won the toss and elected to bat but managed just 104 all out in 43.2 overs.

Correspondents say the result should give England confidence for their semi-final on December 24th.
