Pakistani court allows Zardari's oath

The High Court in the Pakistani province of Sindh has ordered that the jailed husband of the former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, be allowed to take the oath as a member of the Senate in Islamabad.

The court ruled on a petition filed by Benazir Bhutto.

Mr Zardari was elected to the Senate while in jail on charges of murder.

He has been in prison since the dismissal of the Bhutto government in November last year.

Mr Zardari could not take the oath as the authorities did not allow him to attend any session of the Senate.
