Kidnapped Pakistani legislator released
Reports from Pakistan say a member of the provincial assembly in the North-West Frontier Province, Gayan Singh, who was kidnapped by gunmen several days ago has been released unconditionally. Mr Singh was kidnapped along with a high-ranking government official, Maqbul Ahmed, while travelling from Kohat to the provincial capital, Peshawar. A ransom demand was made for an undisclosed amount -- the authorities say it wasn't paid. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
