France renews offer to Senegal
the French Prime Minister repeated his government's offer to help Senegal resolve its separatist crisis in the Casamance region. But Mr Jospin said France had no intention of interfering. As Mr Jospin was ending his visit, reports came in that four people had been killed near Ziguinchor, the regional capital of Casamance, in an attack being blamed on the separatist rebels.
