More Lyon trouble over police custody death

There were further disturbances in the French city of Lyon overnight as tensions continued over the killing of a twenty-four year old man while in police custody.

Eight cars were set on fire in a north-western suburb of the city and there were confrontations between police and protestors.

A policeman is being investigated for murder after Fabrice Fernandez was shot and killed with his own shotgun while handcuffed at a police station in Lyon.

The officer said he thought the gun he was holding was not loaded.

Reports from Paris say youths in a suburb there threw stones at riot police in tensions over a separate case in which a sixteen year old was shot by police on Tuesday as he tried to drive through a road-block.
