Hijackers Steal Nine Million Dollars In Peru
Police in Peru say armed men have escaped with more than nine million dollars after hijacking a light aircaft carrying cash for a regional transport company. Officials say the four gunmen were among eight passengers on board the plane ona flight between Lima and the port city of Chimbote, some four hundred kilometres to the north. During the flight they overpowered the crew and forced the pilot to land on a main highway. They then escaped in vehicles which had been waiting for them. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
