Bangkok considers wooing overseas Thais
Thailand's finance minister, Tarrin Nimmanhaeminda, says his government is considering issuing new dollar-denominated bonds to Thais living abroad, inorder to raise funds. Mr Tarrin said officials might travel to the United States as early as next month to consult investment bankers about the feasibility of the project. Correspondents predict the government will have to issue more bonds in the future to raise funds to offset declining state revenues, and restructure the financial sector.
