Colombian police capture rebel leader

Colombian police on Thursday captured a leading figure in the rebel Army of National Liberation (ELN), the Spanish news agency Efe reported, quoting official Colombian sources.

It said that Jose Gregorio Orozco, who was the number two man of the Manuel Martinez Quiroz Front of the ELN in southern Colombia, was captured in the jungle area of Florencia.

According to a police spokesman, Orozco was suspected of involvement in the murder of several members of the Colombian secret police in the north-west of the country and of preparing to mount a number of terrorist attacks in the capital, Bogota.
