Cuban Cardinal Says Meeting With Fidel Castro Was Positive

CAN FOLLOW CUBA POPE CRUISE The most senior churchman in Cuba, Cardinal Jaime Ortega, has described his meeting with President Fidel Castro on Thursday night as a positive step towards improving relations between the church and government.

The meeting was the first between Mr Castro and members of the Cuban church hierarchy for twelve years.

Cardinal Ortega said better relations between the church and state would benefit all the people of Cuba.
