Fighting in southern Sudan
Pro-government forces in southern Sudan say they have captured an area in Eastern Equatoria province from rebels of the Sudan People's Liberation Army. A regional official, Riak Machar, said militia forces of the South Sudan Defence Force captured Jebel Solora on Tuesday after a battle lasting several hours. He also said the militias seized large amounts of arms including anti-tank and anti-aircraft guns. There's been no word from the SPLA. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
