Somaliland president's resignation rejected

Parliament in the self-declared republic of Somaliland has rejected the proposed resignation of President Egal.

The two chambers voted by an overwhelming majority against the move, and his Foreign Minister, Mahamoud Salah Nur, has told the BBC that Mr Egal has now changed his mind and decided to stay on as President.

He's expected to explain his position in an address the two chambers on Saturday.

Mr Egal submitted his resignation on Tuesday, saying he didn't have the support of his colleagues.
