Scandal at Lebanon's airline
The board of directors of Lebanon's national airline, MEA, has called a general meeting next month after six board members resigned yesterday. A month ago, Lebanon's central bank, which owns the airline, notified legal authorities of suspected irregularities in a deal in which MEA leased aircraft from Singapore Airlines. Last week, a new chairman was appointed until the general meeting. It has been asked to elect a new board. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
