Indian Naxalites unite

A number of the extreme leftist factions in India known as Naxalites say they've agreed to stop fighting each other and start a united campaign against upper caste landlords.

A statement by three of the Naxalite factions, who've been meeting in Calcutta, said internal clashes had prevented them from fighting for peasants' rights and allowed the landlords to take advantage.

The meeting comes after recent massacres of peasants in Bihar state, which were blamed on the private armies of landlords.
