Latin American economies growing fast
United Nations officials say Latin American economies have this year seen their biggest growth for twenty five years, while inflation has fallen to its lowest level in half a century. Officials from the Economic Commission for Latin America said that average growth rate in the region was above five per cent -- although they said this could be affected by the Asian economic crisis. The officials said that sharply rising exports and foreign investment were the main reasons for the economic growth. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
