Post-mortem into death of Thai fisherman

A post-mortem is to be held today in the Indian state of West Bengal into the death in prison of a Thai fisherman.

He was one of more than a-hundred Thais being held on suspicion of fishing in Indian waters.

The authorities have rejected allegations that the dead man had been ill-treated; they say he died from an illness.

The Thai fishermen have been in detention since their vessels were seized in July in a delta region of West Bengal.

Reports say more than sixty of them will be released today.
