Somaliland president resigns
The two houses of parliament in the self-declared republic of Somaliland are expected to decide their response today to the proposed resignation of the President, Mohamed Ibrahim Egal. He submitted his resignation on Wednesday, saying he didn't have the support of his colleagues. Correspondents say, however, that President Egal's offer to resign could be the first stage of a bid to enhance his position. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
