Sultan announces Omani cabinet changes

The Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said, has announced a cabinet re-shuffle.

The Sultan named a new head of the ministry dealing with petrol and gas; he is Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif al-Romhi.

He replaces Said bin Ahmed al-Shanfari.

The minister of state for foreign affairs, Yussef bin Alawi bin Abdallah, was promoted to a position re-named as minister responsible for foreign affairs.

Official sources said Sultan Qaboos retains the position of foreign minister.
