Cambodian political refugees return home

Fifty-seven Cambodian political refugees who fled the country during the takeover by Hun Sen in July have returned to Phnom Penh from Bangkok.

Most of them are supporters of the opposition Khmer Nation Party, led by Sam Rainsy, who returned to Cambodia in November after several months in exile.

The refugees were among a group of about seventy-five who'd been expected to return but the others changed their minds because of fears for their personal safety.

Officials from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees say they have received written guarantees from the Cambodian government the group would not be harmed.
