Liberia: Nigerian warplanes must go
The Liberian government has re-opened Robertsfield International Airport, and has called on Nigeria to remove warplanes and other military hardware located there. A BBC correspondent in Monrovia says the Nigerian-led intervention force, ECOMOG, has been using the airport - forty kilometers east of the capital - to mount pressure on the military government in neighbouring Sierra Leone. At a re-opening ceremony, the Liberian vice-president, Enoch Dogolea, said the removal of the fighter aircraft would help to create confidence among businesses hoping to resume flights to Liberia.
