Warne faces up to himself ... but questions about his growing girth bother him

The Australia leg-spinner, Shane Warne, has stormed out of a news conference after being asked about his growing waistline.

Warne was attending the unveiling of a waxwork model of himself at a Melbourne sports theme cafe when a question about the model's noticeably slimmer appearance visibly upset him.

He was asked by a reporter if he preferred the shape of his wax image, which looked several kilograms lighter than the player.

Warne snapped: "That's why I don't answer any questions from you blokes."

As he walked from the stage, ending a very brief and abruptly curtailed appearance, Warne said: "That's it, you've ruined it ... thanks very much."

According to recent local newspaper reports, the Australia coach, Geoff Marsh, has become concerned about Warne's weight, asking the bowler to monitor his diet.

Sydney's Sunday Telegraph said Warne was more than six kilograms above his ideal match weight.
