Cambodia's elections may be delayed

As fighting continues in Cambodia, government officials have raised the prospect that elections planned in less than six months' time may be delayed.

Preparations for the poll, due next May, are being closely watched by the international community which has made continuing aid to Cambodia dependent on free and fair elections being held.

But a government minister Sar Kheng suggested there was too little time to make all the arrangements, and suggested putting off the date to October ( Meanwhile resistance forces, loyal to the ousted co-prime minister, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, say they are still holding out against government troops in their last stronghold, the town of O'Smach near the Thai border.

The government launched an attack with tanks and artillery on Monday,
